In 1998, Andy Anderson found that there were no table tennis
clubs in Abbotsford. He decided that starting a club would be a good way for fellow table tennis players in the Abbotsford
area to come together. He put an advertisement in the paper and called all the people he thought may be interested in forming
a club, inviting them to come out and play. In order to get more people interested, the club held an all day demonstration
at the Seven Oaks Mall. Dufferin Games allowed us to borrow tables and equipment for the demonstration. Later, Andy and another
member, put money up front in order to purchase two tables, raquets and balls. With a growing membership we were able to pay
all debts and eventually buy three more tables. We now have members ranging in age from fifteen to seventy-nine years old.
We have mothers, fathers, sons and daughters of all nationalities that come out each week. The club motto is "socialize and
exercise" and our club provides a place where people can come and do just that. Every summer a picnic is held for all club
members and their families, theres food, friendly competition, prizes and fun for all. Every member of the club truly
cares about one another It has definitely become a family atmosphere.
